Welcome to the new Audio Engineering Society Historical Committee website! This site is built as a resource for audio professionals, aficionados, historians, and anyone else curious about the history of audio engineering and production. At the links above, you’ll find interviews, articles, technical resources, and much more.

Our website offers a variety of features to help you dive into the fascinating world of audio engineering history:

  • Oral Histories: Listen to the stories and experiences of pioneers in the field.
  • Archival Research: Access a wealth of documents, photographs, and artifacts that have shaped the industry.
  • Historical Publications: Read articles, books, and multimedia content highlighting significant events and figures in audio engineering.
  • In Memoriam: Tributes to significant figures in the world of audio engineering

The Audio Engineering Society Historical Committee is dedicated to preserving and celebrating the rich history of audio engineering. Our mission is to document, archive, and share the milestones and achievements that have shaped the field of audio engineering. This website is an international forum open to all who wish to investigate and learn about the achievements of those pioneers whose innovative ideas and inventions have contributed to audio’s rich past. Passionate about history? Volunteer to help us with our projects — AES membership is encouraged but not required.

This site is currently a work in progress, and your patience and interest are greatly appreciated. If you find an error (in fact or function), please let us know. And we’re always looking for additional information and ideas! Our existing sites at aes.org and aes2.org remain active for now and additional helpful information can be found there.
